Susie Nangala Watson Australian, Warlpiri, b. 1961

Susie Nangala Watson was born in Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal settlement 290 kmsnorthwest of Alice Springs. She went to the local high school and has lived there most of herlife. She is the daughter of the renowned artist, Judy Napangardi Watson.She has lived forlong periods of time in Lajamanu and often spends time in Balgo where she also has family.Susie is married and has three children.She has been painting with WarlukurlanguArtists Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal ownedand governed art centre located in Yuendumu, since 2000. She paints the stories that aredirectly related to her traditional country. Susie uses bold bright colours, building on traditionsthat stretch back at least fifty millennia, while developing a modern individualistic style to depicther traditional Jukurrpa.
