About

Nancy was born near Patjarr at a place called Pandaltjarr where she lived a traditional lifestyle into early adulthood. She is included in video footage taken by Ian Dunlop in 1965 filmed at Patjarr Creek. She has lived and painted all her life at Patjarr where she divides her time between hunting and painting. She is a widow having been married to Aubery Carnegie and has two surviving children, Jodie and Paul Carnegie with grandchildren and great-children. Nancy paints Tjakura dreaming which is associated with her birthplace, Seven Sister Dreaming, Tatjarr as well as the country of Patjarr. She is a gifted painter, punu maker and tjanpi weaver. Her metal wirra (hand carved metal bowls) were acquired by the South Australian Museum late last year as part of Ngurra; Home in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands exhibition in which she played an integral part.
