Magdalene Foster Australian, Alyawarr, b. 1993

Magdalene Foster is a young artists from a prominent family of artists in Epenarra. Her mother, aunts and grandmother taught her to paint and remain important influences for the artist. Magdalene explores bush tucker and landscape in blocks of fine dot work and brilliant colour. Her practice sits within a long tradition of Epenarra artists who have dedicated their work to celebrating the brilliant landscape of lytwelepenty (the Davenport Ranges National Park). Magdalene is a member of a young group of emerging artists from the community who have been significantly influenced by their elders, but who explore familiar themes with their own contemporary take on the art centre's distinctive visual language.
