Judith Walkabout Australian, Yankunytjatjara, b. 1983

Judith Walkabout was born in the Alice Springs Hospital, her mum Betty King was born in Port Augusta and spent a lot of time growing up and living in Amata. Judith’s father Arthur Walkabout was born in Docker River NT.

 

When Judith was young she lived in Docker River with her mother and father. Following the passing of her father, Judith moved to Indulkana at age 7 and lived in a little house with her grandmother Edie King. After completing school, she worked for some time as an AEW (Anangu Education Worker) at the Indulkana School. Judith then moved to Areyonga NT, where her husband comes from.

 

Now based full-time in Indulkana, Judith is a dedicated painter at Iwantja Arts, working alongside her family members like senior artists Maisie King and Peter Mungkuri.
