In this painting Phyllis depicts the Joomooloony Mayibany which is commonly known as Boab with fruit or Adansonia Gregorii. For Gija people the joomooloony tree represents fertility. It is also a great source of vitamin C when eaten-The green nuts can be cooked in the coals of a fire, then once the nuts are dry the fruit inside can be eaten without cooking. The roots of the youngjoomooloony tree are also eaten (like a small carrot) or processed by hand to make string.
