This painting is about Tapatjatjaka, the Irretye [Wedge Tailed Eagle] Dreaming at the big sandhill, other side of Titjikala Community. It’s sacred. Tapatjatjaka is another name for Titjikala community. Irretye is significant to the region and people. The community is also known as Maryvale and Tapatjatjaka. In the middle ground is the old camp on Maryvale Station. We had no tap, no electricity, no nothing. Just had humpies. No power - only candles, when we had them. Cooking by the fire. Here, families siitng around fires, kids playing round camp, and all our papa [dogs]. Then in the front [at bottom of painting], Titjikala Village beginning to grow, houses made from tin, old cars, kids, donkeys, papa [dogs]. Community has grown so much since then.
