Mamu are spirit creatures or monsters that are invisible to the eye, but can only be seen by ngankari's (traditional healers). Mamu may appear in a persons dream during sleep, or sometimes are found walking the desert landscape. These spirit creatures can be friendly, but are often thought of as scary characters that can be quite cheeky.
Tiger Yaltangki enjoys creating his own personal Mamu, the drawn and painted figures often resemble animals, people, and science fictions characters. Influenced by television programmes such as The Mighty Boosh and Doctor Who. Tiger's collections of spirit figures are boldly presented and capture an adventurous sense of humour.
