Short St Gallery is proud to presents, Emu Heart, a solo exhibition by Dianne Ungukalpi Golding. Dianne Golding is a renowned West Australian artist from the Ngaanyatjarra Lands. She continues to uphold her family legacy and cultural heritage by painting the sacred site of Walu. Walu Rockhole is a deeply significant site, a source of water for the NG people, and the Tjukurrpa associated with her mother Carol Maanyatja Golding and the renowned artist Tommy Mitchell. It is part of a network of stories associated with this country and the creation story of ‘Emu Heart, The Boy Who Turned into Wind’.

Through family trips and conservation efforts which began in 2006, Dianne has been able to enhance her connection to country, intergenerational learning, and documentation of Tjukurrpa. Dianne’s spectacular paintings celebrate the Tjukurpa associated with Walu and contribute to the ongoing preservation of the Ngaanyatjarra traditions passed down by her mother and ancestors. Golding's bold and powerful colour palette and composition relay themes of ancestral knowledge and connection to the land while also capturing the beauty and essence of her country.

Dianne's unique style and ability have earned her a dedicated following that continues to grow alongside her devotion to portraying traditional stories and customs, gaining her a special reputation for authenticity, complexity and knowledge of Indigenous beliefs and traditions. Short St gallery invites you to view Emu Heart via our gallery or online.
