Wiru Tjukurpa (Beautiful Law/Story) brings together a collection of works from the remote communities of Nyapri and Kanpi, 100 kms south of Uluru. Set at the base of the majestic Murputja Ranges (Mann Ranges), these ranges resemble the spine of a person’s body and is a source of precious water and Tjukurpa (creation stories) for the communities artists. The community has housed a small group of highly talented artist since its inception and has continued to hold a benchmark for innovation, style and quality within the art world.
The Nyapari and Kanpi artists have a reputation befitting of their cultural knowledge and connection to culture, often creating large scale exceptional artworks that regularly travel to significant exhibition and collection around the world. Short St Gallery is honoured to present recently unearthed treasures to bring you a body of work that records the Wiru Tjukurpa of the Anangu.
