‘Families living in their camp, Coniston side. Station [homestead] across the creek this side [from which position Grace has painted the landscape]. All the families playing, racing in boats. Kids swinging, always swinging. Mothers watching. Women collecting water to take back to fires to make tea, cook damper. Houses – three tin houses there, new ones. Used to be humpies there.’ Grace has painted the small Coniston outstation that lies across Crown Creek (Lander River tributary) from the Coniston Station Homestead. The viewer is positioned on the same side as the Homestead. Grace lived in this camp, and worked on the station with her husband when she was a young woman, and occasionally still visits the families who live there today.
