Rachel Yukultja Jennings Austral;ian, Ngaanyatjarra, b. 1938
Rachel Yukultja Jennings was born at Pirti Parnangu claypan. Her country is between Pirti Parnangu and Wilkurrul near Mantamaru. Common themes in her painting are the Tjukurrpa belonging to this area such as Tjitji Kutjarra. As a young girl Rachel travelled the area around Mantamaru with her family. Her father and mother adopted Carol Golding after her parents passed away and cared for her into adulthood. The two women recall early days as children walking from place to place with their families and remain great friends, often painting together. Rachel was a young woman in her teens when the family moved into Warburton Mission after the birth of Rachel's youngest sister, Eunice. She spent most of her adult life in Warburton where she was married and raised her two daughters. Rachel was initially involved with the Warburton Arts Project. However,since moving to Kungarangkalpa Aged Care at Wanarn she has begun painting with Warakurna Artists. Rachel's sister is Eunice Porterone of the founding Artists at Warakurna Artists and present Chairwoman. She is also a keen weaver and works also with the Tjanpi Desert Weavers
