Sheena Dodd Australian, Pitjantjatja, b. 1966
Sheena grew up on her family’s homeland of Sandy Bore around Mimili Community. Daughterto senior Pitjantjatjara Elders Sammy and Ngilan Dodd, Sheena was brought up with strongroots in her traditional culture. Sheena’s family only recently moved to Mimili Community fromtheir traditional homelands, where she still spends most weekends. With her family beingdeeply involved in land management, Sheena holds deep knowledge about her country, andall the creatures, plants, rocks and spirits, held within.Sheena was a basketweaver for many years before becoming a painter. Today, she is bestknown for her quirky depictions of tjulpu (birds).
