Ian Rictor Australian, Pitjantjatjara, b. 1962

Ian Rictor was born at Artulin / Tuwan c1955 and is a custodian and traditional owner of Tuwan. Ian emerged from the bush with his small family group in only 1986 and they are thelast of the known Aboriginal people to have remained living traditionally inthe Western Desert.In 1997 Ian was keen to join the group of Spinifex painters. He took to the medium of paint oncanvas with fluency and has been painting his birthplace and surrounding country since then.He has had increased success exhibiting withthe Spinifex Artists in London, Utrecht and manygalleries in Australia.Ian is an impressive and skilled hunter, bush mechanic and craftsman. He lives in Tjuntjuntjarawith his wife Kathleen Donnegan-also an artist, and their extended family
