Anna Peel Australian, Yulparitja, b. 1971

Anna Peelis a Yulparitja artistwho was born in Bidyadanga community. She currently lives in Broome and enjoys painting at Short St Bungalow and at home. Anna paints the beautiful flowers on her mother’s country and says, “This is my grandmother’s and mother’s country called Pinkalarta. These are the patterns andcolours of bush flowers blooming in the desert.When the jila [waterholes] are filled during the wet season, bush mayi [food], plants and flower sof the desert blooms to beautiful colours. These waterholes are my dear grandmother’s and mother’s whois no longer with me now."
