Denise Jackson Australian, Ngaanyatjarra, b. 1982

Denise Jackson is an artist belonging to the Ngaanyatjarra language and cultural group and lives in the remote community of Warakurna, WA.

 

Denise was taught to weave in 2006 by her mother, the well- known fibre artist Polly Jackson.

 

Denise continues to create tightly woven coiled baskets. In 2014 she started making Tjanpi sculptures, focusing on animal themes. She's known for her funky tjilkamartas (echidnas).

 

Denise also paints with Warakurna Art Centre and makes elaborate punu (carved wooden objects) with Maruku Arts.
