Tjunkaya Ken Australian, b. 1979

Tjunkaya was born in Adelaide, grew up in Amata community in the APY lands with her family, then returned to Adelaide to finish her school education. Tjunkaya has been an artist from a young age, consistently developing her style, experimenting with diverse materials and processes. 

She comes from a family of strong leaders and these family connections are an important part of her personal life and work. Tjunkaya has a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master’s degree in Narrative Therapy and Community Work. Tjunkaya currently paints at Iwiri Wellbeing Space in Adelaide.
