Clara Napurrula Australian, Pintupi, b. 1958

Clara Napurrula was born in 1958 and is the daughter of Toba Tjakamarra who had three wives, one being Clara's mother Wintjiya Napaltjarri. Wintjiya was a very well-known painter with Papunya Tula Artists up until her death in 2014 and was among the group of women who began painting regularly for the Company at the start of 1996. Clara was married to Lance Abbott Tjapanangka a very articulate man who served as a councillor for both the Kintore Community and the Central Land Council prior to his death in 2018. She began painting for Papunya Tula Artists in 2011.
