Sharon Butcher Napanangka Australian, Walpiri, b. 1968

Sharon was born in Papunya to mother, Ivy and father, George Butcher. She attendedPapunya school and attended Yirrara College in Alice Springs in 1982. Her brother is thefamous Warumpi Band guitarist Sammy Butcher. Sharon married a man from the Top endandhas two sons, Leon and Joseph and one daughter, Savonne. Joseph and Savonneattended school in Townsvilleand completed their HSC and attended University. Sharon hasworked at aged care in Papunya and at the Papunya school. Sharon has been painting since2010. She started exhibiting in 2016 and is a strong emerging talent at Papunya Tjupi. Shewas also electedas a Director of the Art Centre in 2017. In 2018 Sharon began working atthe Art Centre as an Arts Worker and is a committed and respected figure at Papunya Tjupi Arts.
