Over the last 2 years female artists from the three communities in the Eylandt region, Milyakburra (on Bickerton Island) and Angurugu and Umbakumba on the main Eylandt have been working to produce a hand dyed range of wearable art using natural plant dyes from the region.
The women have now honed their craft to produce a series of beautiful ready to wear items that embody the spirit of the bush. Artist are paid upfront for each piece produced which has now evolved into a cottage industry with over 30 women participating in the program weekly.
