Biography

Marlene Wheeler Nungarrayi has taken to painting with a passion. Granddaughter of Albert Namatjira, Marlene has many family members in Papunya and Hermannsburg communities, including many grandchildren. Marlene paints bush tucker, women's ceremony and other Tjukurrpa narratives such as Seven Sisters, and about her family's Country and Law. Her works are warm and earthy and very finely detailed and her audience are immediately drawn to her paintings. Marlene painted with Ngurratjuta Iltja Ntjarra before painting with Tangentyere.
